Although more than 17,000 small wind turbines (SWT) have already been installed in Germany, there is still little knowledge about their impact on birds and bats in Central Europe. Between July 2015 and July 2017, 15 existing wind turbines in northern Schleswig-Holstein were therefore examined to determine whether birds and bats are displaced by wind turbines or die in their rotors. Five turbine types were involved, with an output of between 5 and 15 kW and a total height between 18 and 30.5 m.
