For 30 years, the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) – and its Leipzig office – has been working on issues such as renewable energy, landscape planning, green infrastructure, digitalisation and urban nature.
Research into the energy transition will be the focus of the event ‘BfN Leipzig in Dialogue – 30 Years of Research into Nature Conservation and the Energy Transition’, to be held on 5 and 6 November 2025.
The first day will feature a celebratory review of 30 years of research into nature conservation and the energy transition at the Leipzig site, whilst also looking ahead to future developments. It will also provide a platform for representatives from academia, public administration and the nature conservation sector – including former and current research participants – to exchange expertise and network.
The networking colloquium on the second day is aimed at current research fellows within the BfN’s departmental research programme and those funded by other research funding bodies, as well as practitioners from nature conservation organisations and authorities working in the field of nature conservation and renewable energy. The colloquium will focus on digitalisation, data-driven models, AI and the use of sensors in nature conservation practice.
