REFOPLAN 2024 published

The departmental research plan (REFOPLAN) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) for the year 2024 was published in January 2024.

Three projects are listed in the research field "Nature Conservation and Renewable Energies" (BfN II4.3).

Nature Conservation and Renewable Energies

  • FKZ 3524860200: Further development of EEMonReport
  • FKZ 3524860300: Recording the effects of small wind turbines on bats in the city
  • FKZ 3524860400: Effectiveness of modified turbines for the fish-friendly operation of a hydropower plant

One project related to the energy transition was listed in the research field "National and international species conservation" (BfN II3.3):

National and international species conservation

  • FKZ 3524820200: Effects of offshore wind power utilisation on the occurrence and population of selected seabird species

The planned projects will be realised within the framework of the available budget funds. The inclusion of a project in the research plan therefore does not mean that it will be awarded.

How can the expansion in renewable energies be designed in harmony with nature? The Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) is providing expert scientific advice on this question to the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (Bundesumweltministerium, BMUB). Research by the BfN always has a practical application and generates scientific results for advising government i.e. supplies a basis for decision-making for the preparation, implementation, monitoring and further development of nature conservation measures and the Federal Government's nature conservation policy.
