Geolocations and plant data for renewable energy installations published online

A working group at the Environmental Research Centre (UfZ) is currently developing, as part of the ‘EEMonReport’ R&D project, a web-based reporting format designed to provide information on the progress made in the environmentally sustainable expansion of renewable energy in Germany’s electricity sector. The datasets include the geographical locations and plant data for renewable energy installations in Germany up to May 2021.

A key component of this is the location data for renewable energy plants. This data has now been updated and further developed as part of the work.

A freely accessible, revised dataset containing the geographical locations and plant data for renewable energy plants in Germany is now available.

It contains five geodat sets comprising point data for onshore and offshore wind turbines, bioenergy plants and hydroelectric power stations, as well as polygons for ground-mounted photovoltaic installations, covering the period up to 7 May 2021.

The data can already be viewed in the UfZ’s EE-Monitor web GIS application.
