PV systems on artificial and heavily modified water bodies also serve to implement the EEG (§ 36 WHG). The first systems have gone into operation on artificial stillwaters, although the nature conservation and water ecology impacts of floating PV systems have hardly been researched to date. In the project, a targeted study concept is to be developed, which should make it possible to determine the medium- and long-term effects of floating PV systems on species, habitats and the landscape and thus improve the state of knowledge.
The aim of the project is to develop a multi-year study concept to identify and assess the nature conservation impacts of floating PV systems in stillwaters due to construction, operation, installation and dismantling.
Based on an in-depth literature review, a preliminary study concept is derived, which is made available in advance to local authorities as a working aid for the approval process. In the following, detailed methods of individual biotic, abiotic and landscape parameters are developed and a concrete study concept is derived.
