The aim of the project is to develop – on the basis of a precursor study – an probabilistic model for the red kite which is applicable in permitting processes.
The project aims to finalise a prototype model for determining the project-related collision risk at wind turbines for the red kite, in order to enable a prospective application in practice. The modelling and calculation approach should be documented in a sufficiently transparent manner for third parties. In addition to the implementation of the model for the red kite, the technical and data requirements and integration options into the model for other bird species listed in Annex 1 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act are to be examined.
The pilot study was conducted in 2022/2023 on behalf of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
